Mac's Column, June 1997

Who ever said "dead men tell no tales" obviously didn't know our illustrious prince and his band of merry men.

Let me start by saying, I regret not attending the last meeting where I was made out to be some evil master of the Sabbat or something like that. I would have liked to have seen Steven play holy savior personally.

I have some things to say. I will not apologize for being what I am. Nor will I feel sorry for taking someone in.. WHO ASKED, might I add, and aiding him in becoming what he wanted to be. Yes everyone, Devin wanted to be Sabbat.

As for me being Sabbat. This was no surprise to the Tremere of the city, who, when the bastard Merrich volunteered me to become a deputy, found out. I'll have you know, all deputy wannabe's, they test your blood.

So... of course... Uther and all his Tremere deputy groupies found out. Almost immediately thereafter they contacted Steven. This must have been oh... over 6 months or so ago. The quote I remember from Uther to his deputies was "Steven says to keep her alive".

As for the "cleansing" of Devin... I was told that they would remove the taint from me as well if I behaved. I'd like to ask Steven... have I done ANYTHING lately that would be construed as misbehaving? Where do you draw the line on your cleansing? Why didn't you just eliminate me or remove the taint to begin with so that your pet Brujah would not have had the opportunity to ask to join the Sabbat? It's obvious you have no intention of helping me now. I have been abandoned by my clan and my pack and have no stronger wish than to be left alone. When I came to Tucson I was attempting to escape one of the things I hate most, and in the process became another. You will no longer be able to contact me. My previously public telephone has been shut off and my haven moved. I have no utilities to trace and no mail to maintain. Those I wish to contact will be contacted by messenger.

One more thing before I end my little rant.. If Sabbat loyalties were forced then Devin would have had no choice but to obey them. The fact of the matter is, he DID have a choice. We are all free thinking individuals, we do not force loyalties. As for Devin being "partially" Sabbat, I don't know what would have made him any MORE Sabbat. The ritual was traditional... minus a large pack, since there isn't one here.

The play on the whole Sabbat threat is a farce. Those of us who are/were here are minimal and no threat to you. I have no intention on forcing anyone to become the creature I am. The only ones that I have helped become have been voluntary and I will NOT stoop to the level that Merrich felt he needed to do.. his power trip took over before he even thought of the consequences.

Well I suppose this is it. Please.. just leave me in peace.

Mac
